Empowering Change, Inspiring Social Impact
At Govardhan Ecovillage, we're not just transforming lives within; we're sparking social impact in surrounding communities. Our initiatives promote well-being, sustainability, and empowerment — creating a ripple of positive change.
Govardhan Rural Development
The founding story of Govardhan Rural Development (GRD) traces back to 2010, inspired by His Holiness Radhanath Swami Maharaj. Recognizing the poverty in rural Palghar, despite its proximity to Mumbai, GRD launched initiatives focusing on empowering tribal communities and addressing systemic challenges like rain-fed agriculture, low income, and social issues. The mission emphasizes holistic development through efforts spanning agriculture, women’s empowerment, skill development, education, healthcare, and water resource management.
The organization operates under the vision of energizing and empowering rural households, driving sustainability and self-reliance across multiple fronts. GRD has also implemented impactful projects like Seeds for Life to conserve and promote native seed varieties, alongside significant advancements in infrastructure and community programs.

Farmer Empowerment
Our program aims to stabilize the rural community on their own land through innovative and pragmatic programs. These pilot projects support income generation through improvised sustainable agriculture.
Govardhan Annakshetra
Govardhan Annakshetra’s Mission is inspired by the direction given by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder Acharya of ISKCON. One day after a grand festival celebration, the compassionate leader saw poor children fighting packs of dogs over scraps of food. This unnerving scene led to resolve to fight hunger ensuring no one remains hungry.
The sincere directive has committed several programs towards achieving the goal of zero hunger for over 40 years. Govardhan Annakshetra as a program resolves to act based on this inspiration. Nutritious meals are served daily at Govardhan Ecovillage free of cost ensuring no one goes hungry.
